Agricultural System Engineering Research Center of South China Agricultural University

The Agricultural System Engineering Research Center is a research organization of the university. It was established in 1995. Since its establishment, it has played a great role in the development of agricultural system engineering and management engineering. The center currently has 3 professors, 9 associate professors, 13 other researchers, and more than 30 graduate students. The center team has undertaken more than 30 projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation, the Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Science and Technology Plan, etc.

At the beginning of the establishment of this research center, there were less than 10 members. They mainly focused on computer and its application in agriculture, agricultural system analysis, agricultural regional planning, computer system simulation, etc. According to development needs, the research directions have also been adjusted to the System Engineering, Information System and Management, Industrial Engineering, and the integration of information technology and management. Especially in recent years, it has highlighted the purpose of serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

    The main research areas include:
  (1) information behavior and information service of migrant workers, new citizens, information behavior and optimization mechanism of civil servants in county-level government.
  (2) livestock and poultry breeding informatization, agricultural standardization, machine vision technology, and data mining, agricultural expert system, agricultural supply chain and agricultural product safety traceability. At the same time, new research directions have been opened in the fields of agricultural system energy analysis and evaluation, scientific and technological services and collaborative innovation, financial networks, autonomous computing and cloud services in agricultural systems.
