Research Lab of Cyber Security is a research organization of the university, which locates at the College of Mathematics and Informatics. It is the unique research lab of the university working on cryptography, network security and information security. It grew out of the IT Security Lab which was founded by Professor Bo Yang in 2006. The lab owns a well-trained research team. It has two professors, seven associate professors, five lecturers and one teaching assistant, among which there are one PhD student supervisor, eight graduate student supervisors, one PhD student, and eighteen graduate students. Recently the lab has undertaken seven NSFC projects, four NSF projects of Guangdong (including one project for distinguished young scholars), seven Scientific and Technological Progress projects of Guangdong (including two key projects), and 12 other projects.
The lab has a strong research atmosphere, and holds seminars weekly. Famous scholars domestic or abroad are often invited to the lab for academic visits. Members of the lab are active in academic activities, and try their best to learn the tread in their research fields. The lab has its own research advantage, and the main research areas include:
(1) cryptography theory and technology, including modern cryptography, quantum cryptography, information hiding and information-theory security;
(2) information and network security, including searchable encryption, trusted computing, security in IoT and secure protocol design;
(3) information and network warfare, including network security protocol analysis, intrusion detection, security awareness and etc.
