Math and Applied Mathematics

The  major of mathematics and applied mathematics aims to train students to  master the basic theories, methods and skills of mathematical science  and finance, and to be trained in scientific thinking, with the use of  mathematical knowledge, financial knowledge, the use of computer  technology to solve practical problems of specialized personnel. Majors  include mathematical analysis, advanced algebra, probability theory,  mathematical statistics, operations research, ordinary differential  equation, numerical analysis, microeconomics, macroeconomics,  econometrics, introduction to finance, stochastic processes, accounting,  financial engineering, international finance, actuarial science,  securities investment analysis, investment banking, programming, queuing  theory, neural networks, fractal and wavelet analysis, operating  systems, data structures, object-oriented analysis, database principles  and methods, software engineering, mathematical models and their  software, computer networks. Through solid course study and practice, to  train professionals who can be engaged in practical application,  research development and management in the sectors of economy,  management, finance, Science and technology and government, etc. , or  you can pursue a graduate degree in applied mathematics and its  applications and related disciplines.


Information and Computing Science

Information  and computing science aims to cultivate students with good mathematical  foundation and thinking ability, master the basic theories, methods and  skills of information science and Computing Science, and be trained by  scientific research, advanced applied professionals who can solve  practical problems in information technology and scientific and  engineering computing. Majors include mathematical analysis, advanced  mathematics, differential equation, probability theory and mathematical  statistics, operational research, numerical analysis, data structure,  database principles and applications, advanced language programming,  software engineering, algorithm design and analysis, computer network,  computer graphics, artificial intelligence and model recognition,  information management, information coding and encryption. Through solid  curriculum study and practical training, training in science and  technology, education, information industry, and other fields engaged in  research and management work, or can continue to pursue this  specialized or the related high-tech discipline, the interdisciplinary  specialized graduate student degree.


Statistics

Statistics  is designed to develop a systematic knowledge of statistical theory and  application of knowledge, master the main methods of statistics, with  the ability to deal with specific industry data problems professionals.  Majors include probability theory, mathematical statistics, applied  multivariate analysis, regression analysis, statistical computation,  biostatistics, data analysis and statistics software, statistical  modeling of financial markets, sampling surveys, applied stochastic  processes, economic forecasting and decision making, econometrics, and  environmental statistics. Through the systematic course of study, to  train in management, finance, industry, agriculture, business, credit  and other related fields in data collection, analysis and  decision-making application-oriented graduates.


Computer Science and Technology

Computer  Science and technology aims to cultivate professionals with basic  theoretical knowledge of computer science and technology and the ability  of scientific research. Major courses include data structure, discrete  structure, computer composition principles, operating systems, database  systems, compilation principles, etc. . Software Engineering

The  aim of software engineering is to train engineering software talents  with professional ethics, software engineering knowledge system,  software design and development ability, strong engineering ability and  certain management knowledge. Majors include computer system  fundamentals, engineering economics, operating systems, database  principles and applications, software engineering fundamentals, software  architecture, team motivation and communication.


Data Science and Big Data Technology

Data  Science and Big Data Technology aims to develop a basic knowledge of  natural science and a solid knowledge of data acquisition, storage,  analysis and application related to data science and big data  technology, with the engineering technical ability of big data analysis  and good comprehensive quality, with the ability of abstract thinking,  logical thinking and system view, with innovative spirit and practical  ability of the compound talent. Majors include data structure,  principles of Big Data Technology, distributed computing, operating  systems, database systems, data analysis, and data mining. Through the  systematic course study, can be competent for Big Data Engineer,  enterprise big data project manager and so on.


Network engineering

According  to the concept of engineering education and the need of engineering  talents, the major of network engineering aims to cultivate a high sense  of social responsibility, good humanistic quality and network  engineering thinking, be able to use knowledge of mathematics, natural  science, computer science and technology, network engineering knowledge,  technology and methods, network system planning, design,  implementation, testing, operation and maintenance or other IT related  engineering practices. Major courses include data structure, discrete  structure, computer composition principle, operating system, data  communication and computer network. Through systematic course study,  with good professional adaptation, development and innovation ability,  can be in network engineering and information technology related fields,  independent competent network engineer or other IT engineer positions  and requirements of personnel.


Information Management and information system

The  aim of information management and information system is to cultivate  knowledge of modern management basic theory, system science thought,  computer science and technology, etc. , master the planning, analysis,  design and management of information systems and other methods and  technical expertise. Majors include economics, management, operations  research, database principles and Applications, information resource  management, communications and computer networks, data structures,  management information systems, UML object oriented analysis and design,  Java object-oriented programming, systems engineering, and more.  Through the systematic course study, can be in the national government  departments, enterprises and institutions, scientific research  institutions engaged in information management and information system  construction of application-oriented professionals.


Industrial Engineering

The  major of industrial engineering aims to cultivate students with the  quality of systematic management thought, management science and  engineering science, master the basic theory of natural science and  social science, and technical and management knowledge related to  engineering, ability to analyze and solve management and engineering  problems in production and service systems, such as efficiency, quality,  cost and environment, with professional ethics, innovation awareness  and international perspective, with lean improvement skills, enterprise  information application skills, enterprise automation application  skills, big data analysis and application skills professionals. Majors  include economics, management, operations research, basic industrial  engineering, logistics engineering, human factors engineering,  production planning and control, lean production, systems engineering,  production planning and control, and quality management. Graduates who  have applied systems planning, design, evaluation and improvement work  in a wide range of industries with manufacturing at their core.


Big Data Management and application

Big Data Management and Application Major (BDMAM) of South China Agricultural University has started to enroll since 2021. It upholds the principle of Integration of data analysis Technology and Management, emphasizes personnel training on data management and application basis, fosters students’ information technology ability and strengthens students’ data analyzing and decision making ability.

BDMAM is composed of 12 teachers including 2 professors, 4 associate professors and 6 lecturers, among whom 8 have received Doctorate Degree and many others have studied or visited aboard.

The core courses of BDMAM are Operational Research, Data Structure and Algorithm, Business Intelligence and Data Mining, and Big Data Statistics and Quantitative Analysis, etc.

BDMAM fosters students to be application-oriented talents with solid basic knowledge of mathematics, modern management theory, system science thought, knowledge and methods of data analysis and decision support, skillful at data analysis, process,management and application.
