The South China Agricultural University, the College of Mathematics and Informatics, and the College of Software Engineering are jointly open. The school of Mathematics and information was established on 16 December 2014, formerly the School of Science and the School of information; the School of software was established on 19 April 2004.

    In 2020, there were 3,635 full-time students, the largest number of students in the school. The college has three departments: Mathematics, Computer Science and engineering, and information engineering. Applied Mathematics majors include mathematics and computer science, statistics, computer science and technology, Software Engineering, data science and Big Data Technology, network engineering, information management and information systems, industrial engineering, and big data management and applications.

    The college has a strong teaching staff of 204, including 19 administrators, 9 experimentalists and 176 full-time teachers. There are 20 full-time professors, 80 associate professors, 75 lecturers, 1 postdoctoral fellow, 6 professor, 33 Academic Master’s supervisors and 41 Professional Master’s supervisors.

    The scientific research results are fruitful. From 2015 to 2020, our school teachers will undertake 240 scientific research projects with a total funding of more than 75.6 million yuan. In addition, faculty members have published more than 460 SCI and EI papers. The college attaches great importance to the construction of scientific research teams, and actively building scientific research platforms and laboratories, such as Guangdong Research Center of Engineering Technology, Internet of things for agriculture and aquaculture, Agricultural Big Data Engineering Research Center, Guangdong Modern Agriculture (Big Data) Industrial Technology R&D Center, Guangdong Agricultural Internet of Things Research and Development Center, Guangdong Intelligent Farming Technology Innovation Center.
